Updates from Blue Moon’s trip around the UK

“You will be writing a blog won’t you?” everyone said when I told them I was planning on sailing around the UK.

“Absolutely not” I replied. I can’t think of anything worse than arriving in some fishy harbour, shagged and wet through, and having to open a computer and tell the internet what a lovely time I’m having, whilst making some humorous yet incisive literary / cultural / sociological observation on my new surroundings.

So here it is. And I’m really not into this blogging malarkey.

The boat in question.

To the uninitiated, this is just a boat.

To the connoisseur, she’s a finely fettled Parker 325 bristling with contemporary mods.

(Incidentally, I have bolted the windlass to the foredeck since this photo was taken, you’ll be pleased to hear)

Like all blogs, if you are coming to it late it’s best to read the posts in reverse order. Unlike other blogs, this one will make no sense at all unless you go to the Blogs link at the top and begin at the beginning

    Two homecomings…

…neither of them final As soon as I began planning this trip, or even thinking about it, I began to think about how it might end. A sports psychologist would have complimented me for my ability to visualise success, but it felt wrong to be dreaming about finishing the journey when I was supposed to
